2025 Pete Anderson Award
The “Pete Anderson Award” is annually presented to a person or entity that has contributed significantly or made a significant contribution” to the San Diego Region grape growing and wine making culture.
Pete served for several years in Italy in the Napoli region for NCIS, where his love for winemaking and grape growing began. Upon retirement and return to the USA, Pete began Eusinus vineyard in Carlsbad in 1997. Eusinus is named after a vineyard and winery from the Roman era in Pompeii that was destroyed after centuries of operation in the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
Pete Anderson has been at the forefront of teaching winegrowing (grape growing and wine making) to hundreds of individuals and entities via universities, colleges, Grangetto’s, his vineyard and their vineyards in San Diego County and surrounding areas.

Many who have learned to be a wine grower under his tutelage have gone on to open large wineries across the state including one of the largest and most prestigious wineries in Paso Robles, Daou Vineyards and Winery.
Pete’s Service above Self is one of the principle reasons why the San Diego area continues to grow in size and quality as a wine region.
